Rent receipts in Türkiye: what you need to know
Individuals who let a home don’t issue invoices. A simple receipt or statement, together with the bank record, is the usual proof of payment between landlord and tenant.
- Pay through a bank. Residential rent should be paid by bank transfer, so the bank receipt (dekont) is your primary record. Write the period in the transfer description, for example “Kasım 2026 kira”.
- Workplace rent: if the tenant is a business, it withholds 20% income tax from the gross rent and pays it to the tax office. The receipt shows the gross amount, the withholding and the net paid.
- VAT: letting a home is generally outside VAT for individuals. VAT-registered businesses must issue e-Fatura or e-Arşiv invoices through GİB; this tool doesn’t replace those.
- Statements: a payment statement for a period helps tenants applying for a new home or a residence permit, and helps landlords at tax time.
Each document gets a number such as KM-2026-0001 (receipt), KB (statement) or GB (charge note), so you can find it later. The list stays in this browser.
